The word we're looking for here is "adorable" but "precious" will work too. Emily and Matt brought their kiddo Luna out to Kleinstuck Preserve last week for their family session. Kleinstuck is a 48-acre nature preserve owned and managed by Western Michigan University, and one of my new favorite family session locations! I was lucky enough to be able to photograph Luna for her one year-old photos last summer, and now she's two! She was the most cooperative toddler. It was beautiful! She found some big rocks, dropped them in a little creek, smooched her mama, and snuggled up to her dad.

Jacob and I headed out to a few scenic spots around town to capture his senior portraits last week! I can't wait to keep editing his session to find more gems, but here is a sneak peak. We started at the Kalamazoo Nature Center and hit up their butterfly and hummingbird garden. After KNC, we visited Kindleberger Park and found a ton of spots that were familiar to him growing up that he was excited to take photos at!
As promised, next up is David's Senior Portrait feature! His high school highlights so far include making it into the National Honor Society and getting to regionals in track and field. David sees a bright future for himself where he's doing something he's truly passionate about- either playing sports professionally or becoming a biologist- both incredibly worthy pursuits! I love the top right one above, where we have David basically taking over as a Nike model. Hit him up Nike! He'll model those cleats all day. Location features include Riverview Launch, Heritage Hall, and the Vine Neighborhood Association murals. "The senior portrait experience was absolutely amazing. I had lots of fun and chose what to wear and the locations for the photo shoot. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs pictures for any occasion." David and his twin Josh shared their session and were so fun to work with. In true twin fashion, for their last photo they were arguing about whose arm should be on top and whose should be on the bottom.
Senior Portraits in Kalamazoo allow for endless possibilities! Josh's session started with Riverview Launch, a scenic little spot along the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail. Then we drove out to Heritage Hall on Western Michigan's East Campus, and ended with a feature of the Vine Neighborhood Association's murals just down the street. Josh's high school highlights so far include making it to regionals for wrestling, taking college courses while in high school, and just enjoying his experience as much as possible. The career path he is most interested in is Education. Josh plans to become a Social Studies teacher one day! "The Senior Portrait experience was very fun. It was really nice traveling around Kalamazoo getting photos of me. Since I also combined my senior session with my twin brother's, I was able to get a sample of how the pictures looked and I was very impressed with the lighting and angles Erin found." I met Josh when he was probably around 13 years old- and we worked together at Open Roads Bike Program for a handful of years. His twin brother David, joined us for this Senior session too (his feature coming next)! I snuck in a few shots of them together and am quite happy with how they turned out. Here are a couple of those!
Travis and his family live on a beautiful wooded 27 acres up in Bellaire, Michigan, where we had plenty of space to explore and capture his Senior portraits! His Grandparents have a home on the same property, so when they offered up his Grandfather's tractors for his photos, we were all over it. I know some students coming into Senior year this year feel like they hardly finished up being a Junior, but Travis seemed quite unfazed by it all. He's looking forward to pursuing welding or another trade after graduation. Oh, and this little pup right here is Marigold. He <3's Marigold. Believe it or not, it's time for Senior portrait season already! Working with Travis was an amazing way to start things off. Hit me up to snag one of my last spots in August or catch one of my September openings.
